BAKER

The right candidate will typically possess time management, communication, organizational and resource management skills.

Bakers must exercise the following qualities and skills:

  • Detail-oriented

  • Flexibility to work around customer demand

  • Ability to work with team members to solve problems

  • Good planning skills

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

  • Ability to follow recipes and have basic math skills


COOK

Cooks must exercise the following qualities and skills:

  • Knowledge of safety procedures, including safe temperatures at which ingredients must be kept and to which food must be prepared to avoid foodborne illness

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of other people, such dishwashers, management and sometimes customers

  • Calm demeanor to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment

  • Accountability for the dishes they prepare measuring up to the expectations of management and customers alike

  • Comprehension and organization to follow direct orders and recipes and to correctly prepare dishes to the standards of the restaurant

  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knife techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting and dicing


BARISTA

The Barista’s job is to engage with customers in a personable and service-oriented manner. They must also be able to make transactions by cash or credit and make drinks in the order they were purchased. 

Barista’s duties are:

  • Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders

  • Preparing and serving beverages, ranging from simple to elaborate ones

  • Preparing and serving food items such as sandwiches and pastries

  • Answering customers’ questions about menu choices

  • Promoting and recommending menu options to customers

  • Taking payment from customers

  • Keeping the work environment sanitary and organized
